3 tips for conserving heat in your space that will also help the environment?

When that cold winter front blows in – it can be tempting to crank up the thermostat to soaring temperatures. However, there are many tips and tricks out there that can help you keep your space warm while conserving heat and energy use.?

Draft Proofing: Conducting a test to identify areas of a draft in your space is the most cost-effective way to save energy and conserve heat. Best done when the air pressure difference between the inside of your space and the outdoors is greatest. Choose a cool, windy day in the fall, or a cold winter day to identify drafts in your home and research how to better seal those areas.?

Smart Thermostats: Investing in a smart thermostat can reduce your energy consumption by 5% or more. Many smart thermostats are capable of learning how your home heats up and cools down, adjusting heating based on the weather, and switching your heat on or off depending on if you are at home or not.??

Adjust your Thermostat: Turning your thermostat down one degree can reduce your energy use by 10% and save around $120 CAD a year on energy bills. Turning down your thermostat might sound uncomfortable or chilly – but if you are taking other heat-saving steps such as the above – one degree may not actually feel much different while significantly reducing your energy use! Combining heat conservation techniques is the most effective and beneficial when trying to save on energy consumption.?
